Last Saturday was the celebration Surprise Party at the Post Farm...and I put on the brakes just at the music part...first and foremost having to show you all the gorgeous decorations and that fantastic spread they put out...including the all-time favorite hand-cranked pumpkin ice cream. YUMMMMM-MY!!! So now lets get to the milling and the music! Cameras were going all over the place. Joe and I got into a 'shooting' fight. He shot me.... So of course, I had to shoot back! I think he won, though. His photo came out much better than mine did! And see that knitted hat I'm holding there? I just finished that one for Mandy's baby Auden. Here's a better look at it... Now what about that music part??? The folk guitarist, a friend of Sarah's husband, was awesome! However, he did have some competition. Little Emma got up on stage and sang, "Shine up my boots"...or something super-adorable along those lines. And Great Grandpa Post sang a wonderful rendition of some old Railroad Engineer Song... BIG APPLAUSE!!!!! Happy 35th Anniversary Harlow & Jan!!! Last night we celebrated a Fall Farm Festive Surprise Party at the Post Farm. And what a great evening was had by all! Don't ask me how Mandy and Sarah managed to pull this off and actually 'surprise' Harlow and Jan for their 35th Anniversary...when....Harlow and Jan had been helping prepare for the party all along! Yep, all under the auspices that this was a 'Girl Party' that they were having. Unbelievable! GO Mandy and Sarah!!! : D Now just come and see what these sisters did...the music...the decorating...the food...the fun! Here we go...the stage is set... Errr! We'll stop right there with the music...for now!...I'm saving all that for later. Now let's move on to the decor. You're gonna LOVE this.... Feeling a bit festive yet?? Now just take a look at this spread they laid out... Of course there was hot apple cider and homemade pumpkin ice cream, too. I hope this has whet your appetite! More of the festivities to come! : D This year the annual Post Farm Party to celebrate Mandy's boys' birthdays came earlier than years past....which means it was actually warmer. See all those short sleeves? And no one's huddling around the bonfire like we usually do! Typically, I look forward to this party as the true introduction to Fall...perhaps even early winter. But yesterday we're still feeling very much like summer time! We met over where Mandy and Craig will be building their log home. The outhouse is already in place...and built solely by young Eban...who just turned 8! Guess what his favorite birthday present was....you got it...a DeWalt drill set from U. Joe! No doubt it'll definitely be put to good use around here! All the kiddos are gathering around for the treasure hunt race as Mandy gives the instructions... While the guys take advantage of the diversion! And a mix of generations...both great and grand....around the bonfire... Harlow brought up the horses...now it's time for the hay ride! Remi's favorite spot....but where did G'pa go? He's yelling at the horses, "Go! Go!" What do think...perfect poster child for Future Farmers of America?? If you want to get little Remi to do ANYthing...just tell him he gets to go to the farm! And if that doesn't work...just tell him he WON'T get to go the farm! They say it works like a charm! : D
The first order of business was for Kathleen and the girls to get Magic all decked out to pull the cart. These boots (the horse's that is) are a really great way to allow your horse to go barefoot... They just slip on the hoof then that metal tab in front flips up and clips into place...and Magic has his boots on! He also got the royal treatment with ribbons in his mane.... and also tied onto his tail... Hitched up and ready to roll! And off they go! Back again and ready for the next crew...and it is quite a crew! You betcha they can't wait to do it all over again! : D
Heather's big birthday gift was this lovely sewing machine that we picked up for a song from a friend of ours this past winter. Trying to keep it all a secret hasn't been easy! Now our little lady can begin sewing her favorite babydoll dresses with Mommy. And great motivation for Mommy to keep putting her sewing class knowledge to good use! Next we had a beautiful pancake breakfast with our Maine blueberries we picked last summer....and of course Maine maple syrup...oh and homemade butter! Our favorite! Yum-my! : D I had to go outdoors to track Andrew down...already putting his big birthday gift to use. Yep, his snazzy new blue bike with handle brakes! And yes! That is sunshine you see! Unbelievable. I've honestly lost track of the last day we actually saw sunshine. More rain predicted for the next I don't know how many days. But for our twin's birthday we were blessed with sunshine! Thank you for all the wonderful gifts and birthday wishes, too! : D
Oh I remember those days so well! Back when I was about her age...or younger!...eagerly waiting for that precious moment when my uncles and grandpa would finally announce, "What'd ya say we go saddle up some horses!" And here's Heather....riding pretty Caretta...loving every last second of it! Can you see that huge grin?? : D Caitlyn's a little younger...and not quite so sure of this big animal! She's used to our smaller pony, Babycakes, and this one looks rather intimidating! But she's gathered up her courage and she's decided she's ready to ride! Go Caitlyn! After a few minutes, Caitlyn begins to relax...and decides this is pretty fun after all! Her smile gets bigger and bigger with every round! And here's little one...patiently waiting for her turn...still not so sure she wants to ride this big horse either. But Caitlyn's now raving about how much fun it is... So she musters her courage and gets up there, too! Woo hoo! Go Asheley! And in a few minutes she decides she loves this ridin' stuff, too! Young Andrew's still over there in the backyard playing with dogs...we'll see if he gets ready to ride pretty soon! Meanwhile, Asheley's sittin' pretty and thinks sweet Caretta should come home with us! Ha! We'll continue this saga tomorrow! : D |
